Develop for Good’s Privacy Policy

Develop for Good (“Develop for Good,” “we,” “our,” and/or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who use our website and related services (collectively, the “Services”).  This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and share information from or about Develop for Good users (“Users”).

By using the Services, you agree to the collection, use, disclosure, and the procedures this Privacy Policy describes. Beyond the Privacy Policy, your use of the Services is also subject to our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

We collect a variety of information from or about you or your devices, as described below. If you do not provide information when requested, you may not be able to use the Services if that information is necessary to provide the Services or if we are legally required to collect it.

1. Information you provide to Us

Application and Profile Information. If you apply to volunteer, we may receive personal information including but not limited to your first and last name, address, email address, time zone, university, graduation year, majors and concentrations, experience as a developer, international student status, first-generation college student status, low-income student status, school organizations and affiliations, volunteer interests, gender, ethnicity, age, location (at the continent level), the contents of your resume and application essay, and other information you provide as part of your application.

If you apply to be a mentor, we may receive personal information including but not limited to your first and last name, email address, company, position/title, and other information you choose to provide.

If you propose a project as a nonprofit, we may receive personal information including but not limited to your first and last name, address, email address, the name, size, annual budget, and nonprofit status of your organization, and other information that you provide about the proposed project.

Payment Information. When you make a donation, we use PayPal to collect and process your payment. To process the donation, we may ask you for your PayPal username and phone number to verify your account.

Communications. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you. For example, if you contact us through our website, we may receive your first and last name, email address, the contents of a message or attachments that you may send to us, and other information you choose to provide. If you sign up to receive emails or information from us or respond to our annual surveys, then we may collect certain information from you, such as your first and last name, email address, your areas of interest, and other information you choose to provide. When we send you emails, we may track whether you open them to learn how to deliver a better experience and improve the Services.

Careers. If you decide that you wish to apply for a job with us, you may submit your contact information and your resume via online form or email. We will collect the information you choose to provide on your resume, such as your education and employment experience.

2. Information we collect when you use the services

Device Information. We receive information about the device and software you use to access the Services, including internet protocol (“IP”) address, web browser type, operating system version, internet traffic data, service usage data, and unique device identifiers.

Usage Information. To help us understand how you use the Services and to help us improve them, when you use the Services, we automatically receive information about your interactions with the Services, like action history, information requested or rejected, selections made by you, log files, performance logs, diagnostic reports, the pages or other content you view, the searches you conduct, pages you request, the websites you visited before using the Services, and the dates, times, and durations of your visits.

Promotional Communications. You can unsubscribe from our promotional emails via the link provided in the emails. Even if you opt-out of receiving promotional messages from us, you will continue to receive administrative messages from us.

Do Not Track. There is no accepted standard on how to respond to Do Not Track signals, and we do not respond to such signals.

How to Block Cookies. You can block Cookies by setting your internet browser to block some or all Cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all Cookies (including essential Cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of the Services. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use information from children under 16 years of age, and no part of the Services are directed to children.
